Vernacular Building Solutions (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. is a landscape architecture and architecture firm in Chennai working across landscape design, architecture, interiors and urban planning. Established in 2022 and based in Virugambakkam, we combine design and technical expertise to deliver projects that strengthen the natural and urban fabric of Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
Our process moves from site study and client engagement through concept sketching, model-making and presentation, guided by a philosophy of balancing program, user and context. As GCC-empanelled architects we are equally at home designing civic public spaces for Greater Chennai and detailed architecture at the scale of a single building. The Founder
AR S BABJEE
Principal Architect & Founder
Ar S Babjee, founder of Vernacular Building Solutions and a Council of Architecture registered architect in Chennai, brings a 20-year track record in architecture and landscape architecture. He holds a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, earned in 2006 from the School of Architecture and Planning at Anna University, and completed his bachelor's degree at Madras University in 2004.
In addition to his academic achievements, Ar S Babjee is actively involved with ISOLA (Indian Society of Landscape Architects) as the Secretary for the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Chapter. Under his leadership the firm handles urban parks, waterfront developments, public infrastructure and township master planning across Chennai, Tamil Nadu and the Gulf.
He has collaborated with the Greater Chennai Corporation (as an empanelled architect), CMDA, CPWD, PWD and private clients across Chennai. Furthermore, he has dedicated over a decade to inspiring young minds through guest lectures and teaching engagements.
