A 5,269 sq.m plot in Easwari Nagar, Pammal, developed for the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority into a neighbourhood playground and park with walking paths, play areas, seating and shade.

A CMDA playground and park for Easwari Nagar, designed for every age group

Pammal, near Tambaram in the south-west of Chennai, has grown rapidly and, like many such neighbourhoods, has few well-kept public green spaces. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority engaged VBS to develop a 5,269.5 sq.m plot in Easwari Nagar that was underused and uneven, with patchy vegetation and no defined entry, paths or facilities.

Our landscape architects organised the park around a continuous walking loop that links a children's play zone, fitness corner, lawn and shaded seating pockets, so that children, walkers and senior citizens each have their own space without conflicting. Existing trees were retained and the planting uses hardy native species suited to Chennai's climate and low maintenance.

Paving, lighting, drainage and a clear boundary and entrance give the park a safe, welcoming character through the day and evening. The design views show the concept as presented to the client; the after photos show the park as completed in 2025.
